If it\u2019s your first time in Spain\u2019s capital, this is the place to plant yourself as all the city&#8217;s main attractions are either in Sol or near it. Spend some time caf\u00e9-hopping or browsing the many vintage stores around the neighborhood. It&#8217;s a five-star hotel. Today, Salamanca is the place to find the stylish set. Streets are lined with upscale caf\u00e9s and Spanish-owned designer boutiques. That said, you don\u2019t have to belong to the 1% to enjoy Salamanca. There\u2019s a lot of free eye candy to take in too, including the Puerta de Alcal\u00e1 arch (which dates to the 18th century) and the relaxing El Retiro Park, which is just south of the district.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Places to Stay in Salamanca<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/es\/catalonia-goya.en.html?aid=1383362&#038;no_rooms=1&#038;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>BUDGET<\/strong>: Hotel Catalonia Goya<\/a> \u2013 This is the most affordable hotel in this expensive district. Though a bit on the small side, rooms are clean and stylish, with safe boxes, Wi-Fi, and flatscreen TVs. The hotel also offers a pretty nice breakfast spread. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/es\/jardin-de-recoletos.en.html?aid=1383362&#038;no_rooms=1&#038;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>MID-RANGE<\/strong>: VP Jard\u00edn de Recoletos<\/a> \u2013 This four-star hotel boasts spacious rooms with lots of natural life and plus beddings. There&#8217;s also an on-site Mediterranean restaurant. A continental spread is offered every morning and you&#8217;re just a quick 15-minute walk to the Prado.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/es\/unico-madrid.en.html?aid=1383362&#038;no_rooms=1&#038;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>LUXURY<\/strong>: Hotel \u00danico<\/a> \u2013 Offering high-thread Egyptian cotton sheets, hardwood floors, and luxury bath products, the 44 rooms here are impressive. They are spacious, airy, and opulent. The service here is out of the world and there\u2019s also an in-house Michelin-starred restaurant to dine in.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 a id=\"six\">Where to Stay for Families: Retiro<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.nomadicmatt.com\/2021\/retiromadrid1.jpg\" width=\"675\" height=\"395\" alt=\"The leafy Retiro Park in the fall in Madrid, Spain\"><br \/>\nLocated on the quieter, eastern side of El Retiro (\u201cPark of the Pleasant Retreat\u201d), Retiro is a peaceful district and the best place for taking advantage of the park. It\u2019s especially good if you have kids who like verdant, leafy landscapes. The 17th-century park, once owned by the Spanish monarchy, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Places to Stay in Retiro<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/es\/fiesta-gran-colon.en.html?aid=1383362&#038;no_rooms=1&#038;group_adults=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>BUDGET<\/strong>: Ayre Gran Hotel Col\u00f3n<\/a> \u2013 Set further east from the park, Ayre\u2019s 338 rooms are bathed in natural light. In addition to the bounty that is Mercado de la Cebada, streets are flanked by great tapas bars around Cava Alta and Cava Baja.
